This is why our mission is to enable and uplift young individuals from marginalized and urban communities by delivering a comprehensive range of youth development services in a diverse and nurturing and safe environment. We strive to provide a safe and inclusive space that empowers young people to achieve their full potential and become active contributors to society. We are committed to fostering personal growth, education, and social-emotional wellbeing, as well as promoting positive change in local communities.

At Change Makers NYC, we believe in a holistic approach to helping youth in need. We not only provide them with basic instructional workshops for resume, cover letters, e-mail ettiquette but also financial literacy, basic healthcare necessities, and emotional support. We work closely with communities to understand their needs and create sustainable solutions.

With over a decade of dedicated experience, Mirka Tejada shines as a passionate advocate for change and a powerful champion for youth development within at-risk and underserved communities. Her journey has equipped her with a wealth of knowledge, having worked in foster care, hospitals, and nonprofits that serve youth and children with co
With over a decade of dedicated experience, Mirka Tejada shines as a passionate advocate for change and a powerful champion for youth development within at-risk and underserved communities. Her journey has equipped her with a wealth of knowledge, having worked in foster care, hospitals, and nonprofits that serve youth and children with complex needs and diverse learning styles. Her experience in public schools, overseeing academic programming and staff training, underscores her commitment to empowering the next generation.
As an esteemed alumna of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Mirka holds a Master of Public Administration specializing in Management and Operations, along with a Bachelor's degree in Management with a minor in Latino/a American and Latinx Studies. This impressive educational background provides her with the insights and tools needed to address the multifaceted challenges facing our communities.
Raised in Washington Heights and coming from a low-income background with limited resources, Mirka has a profound understanding of the hurdles our youth face. Yet, instead of being discouraged, she is inspired to take action. Mirka is wholeheartedly committed to leveraging her expertise to drive impactful initiatives through our program. Her vision is clear: to provide young people with the resources and opportunities they need not just to survive, but to truly thrive.
With Mirka at the helm, we are on the brink of something extraordinary. Her leadership will inspire, empower, and elevate our youth, helping them to recognize and achieve their fullest potential. Together, we can ignite change and create a brighter future for the next generation!
